Our own kids are avid readers too. We’ve seen how the right story can inspire imagination and character… and how the wrong book at the wrong time can be too much, too soon. Even passionate readers hit slumps, and it can be hard to know which books will truly engage them.

Story Finders is made for independent school-aged readers — roughly ages 5–18 — who are ready to move beyond picture books into early chapter books and longer, more meaningful novels (typically 200+ pages).

What makes us special is how we partner with you. We don’t send the same books to every subscriber — we want to get to know your child. By understanding what they love, what they don’t, and how they think, we’re able to tailor their box to their unique reading taste. To us, you’re not just a customer — you’re part of the Story Finders family.

We’re two moms (and book lovers) raising kids ourselves. One of us taught grades 4–10 for years, and the other was a homeschool mom. We deeply believe in choosing books that match your child’s emotional maturity as much as their reading ability. We read constantly, research thoughtfully, and love finding stories that build character and joy. It’s an honor to earn and keep your trust.

When you sign up, both you and your child fill out a short survey — they tell us what they like, and you tell us what to avoid. From there, we select two books just for them. After their first box, we keep the cycle going: each month, we ask for feedback so we can better match future picks to their evolving tastes.

Reading is a big part of our lives — we talk about books with each other, with kids, and with reading communities. We’ve built a strong track record of thoughtful recommendations. When you share what your child loves, we use that plus our own ongoing reading and research to pick just-right titles.

Each month, you’ll receive two new books chosen especially for your child. Over time, you’ll see a mix of paperback and hardcover titles. Occasionally, we might include a little surprise — but the heart of the box is always the books.

We follow a monthly schedule:
Billing happens on the 1st of each month
Order cutoff is the 5th
Boxes ship around the 15th
Once shipped, you’ll get a tracking email so you know when to expect your delivery.

No worries at all — just let us know. We’ll send a replacement right away. And if you want, you can donate the duplicate to a friend or a local little free library. We’re big fans of sharing.

Yes. We don’t require a long-term commitment. Your subscription rolls over month to month, but you’re welcome to pause, skip, or cancel anytime.

Not yet — right now, we’re focused on young readers. But we hear you! We’d love to expand to adult subscriptions in the future. If that’s something you’d want, we’d love to know.

Meet Jenny
Jenny (right) is a wife, mom of three, and dog-mom to a fluffy Goldendoodle named Sonny. By day, she teaches fourth-grade language arts; by night, she’s an incredible Story Finder. A lifelong reader, Jenny has worked hard to create a home filled with stories and imagination. She’s a creative baker who also loves music and Mexican food, and when she’s not shuttling kids around, you’ll find her in the kitchen or curled up in her leather chair with a good book.
She has a true gift for discovering the perfect books for our Story Finders community.
Meet Lori
Lori (left) is a wife, mom to a wonderful daughter, and dog-mom to two lovable golden retrievers. Professionally, she’s a scientist by training and education. Personally, she’s an introvert, an avid reader, and a full-blown lover of book lists, reviews, and all things bookish.
A former homeschooling mom, Lori discovered a deep love for middle-grade stories while reading alongside her daughter. Now, she finds so much joy in sharing great books with others!
